Product Design Lead, Redbubble

July 2022 – January 2023 (Redundancy)

My role at Redbubble was to manage a team of designers and to lead design initiatives and strategy across the digital shopping experience on the website and native mobile apps. I was primarily responsible for managing a team of 5 UX designers, focusing on their professional development, mentoring and growth as designers.

Some key achievements include:

  • Operationalised the product design process, introducing a simplified methodology that fit seamlessly into existing business processes. This allowed product teams, including designers to have clear direction when undertaking any design project, kept language and terminology consistent across teams and set clear expectations of exactly what the outcome of each design project would be and what next steps could be explored afterwards.

  • Built relationships across key areas of the business to evangelise the value of good product design, the importance of accessibility and the benefit of including design as early as possible in the product strategy conversation.business, driving new ways of working that focused on amplifying the value of design at scale and working with business leadership to develop strategies to drive future value across various channels including the web, native mobile apps and marketing.

UX Lead, Catch

July 2020 – July 2022

Responsible for managing the UX Design Team at catch.com.au, Australia’s largest online deals business. My role included leading a team of 8 product designers across the business, driving new ways of working that focused on amplifying the value of design at scale and working with business leadership to develop strategies to drive future value across various channels including the web, native mobile apps and marketing.

Some key achievements:

  • Lead the design of the new Catch Android app, released late 2021.

  • Introduced standardised design practices across the business, resulting to an average design initiative being cut from months to weeks. In addition, the new processes have put greater emphasis on ensuring we are designing the right thing and engaging the right stakeholders at the right time, leading to a significant reduction in the amount of rework and improved quality of design.

  • Completed a detailed service design initiative to understand and identify the areas of opportunity across several internal processes. This lead to a 3 year roadmap for the Internal Operation Tribe to begin prioritising a list of initiatives with the goal of improving the businesses internal processes with a focus on time to market and reduced operational costs.

Senior Experience Designer, AustralianSuper

October 2018 – April 2020

Responsible for leading the design of online member facing products and services, including the public website, joining and the member portal whilst driving design thinking and advocating user experience within the organisation.

Some key achievements:

  • Led the creation of a Digital Design System, with the goal of standardising interface design across the fund. This design system is now being used across multiple departments including brand, marketing and comms as well as customer platforms.

  • Based on feedback we have received from members, I designed a brand new Online Registration experience aimed at addressing the three key problem areas we have identified. Due to release later this month, the new online registration, in addition to making it easier for our members to get access to their superannuation accounts online has allowed the customer platform teams to explore new avenues for simplicity and self service relating to username and password security.

  • Led the design direction for the redesign of the funds online member portal. The redesign focuses on addressing many of the key pain points we have captured through user research since its release several years ago. The new design at a high level is focusing on guided end-to-end customer journeys rather than single page interface design. The goal is to make superannuation more approachable to a wider range of members.

  • Led the design direction for all Workshare Secure applications, specifically a product called Workshare Detect, a data loss prevention tool which uses machine learning to determine the risk of outbound email to an organisation. A key milestone was redesigning the products information architecture, leading to deployments once taking two weeks now only taking several hours
